What a year it’s been for the world of rum! The 2024 Rumble Awards have come and gone, showcasing the best that New Zealand has to offer in the way of bold flavours, masterful craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the art of distillation. We’re beyond stoked to share that Russell Rum has snagged two silver medals this year, one for our Russell Spiced Rum and one for our newest creation, Russell Rum Black Strap. 🥈🥈

The competition was fierce, with local and international talent pushing the limits, but we’re honoured to take our place among the winners once again. Our Russell Spiced Rum—a blend that’s been spiced by rascals and refined by our coastal Bay of Islands roots—took home silver in the Spiced Rum category. After earning gold in 2023, this is another nod to its signature mix of rich vanilla, vibrant citrus, and warming spices. A little cheeky, a little classic—just how we like it.

But the big news this year is that Russell Rum Black Strap has made its mark on the scene by earning a silver medal in the Other Rums category. Infused with a secret blend of spices and crafted with blackstrap molasses, this bold, complex rum is turning heads with its dark chocolate aroma, warming spice, and subtle citrus kick. While we tip our hats to all the winners, we’re extra chuffed to see our creations recognised in a competition that celebrates the best of New Zealand rum. It’s more than a medal—it’s a reflection of the passion we pour into every bottle, whether it’s spiced by the sea or inspired by 1980s New York tavern nights.
